No. 9 seed Fresno City College men's soccer team knocked off top seed Santa Rosa in the third round of the CCCAA Northern California regionals on Tuesday afternoon, winning on penalty kicks, 5-4, behind Cole Keeslar's game-winner.
Neither team scored during regulation or overtime, sending the match to penalty kicks.
"We defended very well," Fresno City coach Eric Solberg said.
Solberg said Marcos Samaniego was the defensive standout, playing "superb defense" and "cleared a ball going in."
The win sends the Rams to the next round against No. 5 Cañada, which defeated No. 13 Skyline 3-0.
The winner of that match will head to the state tournament in Mission Viejo on Dec. 5 and 7.
