Fresno City College wrestling falls to Mt. San Antonio in state dual championship
Fresno City College's bid for a 15th California Community College Athletic Association dual state wrestling championship came up short on Sunday afternoon, as the Rams were defeated by Mt. San Antonio, 22-13.
The contest marked the third consecutive year the Rams have lost to the Mounties in the championship match.
Mt. San Antonio held a narrow 15-13 lead heading into the final two bouts, but a major decision in favor of the Mounties sealed the victory and dashed Fresno City's hopes for a comeback.
Victories for Fresno City came from Cairo Plascencia at 133 pounds, Kenny Rodgers at 149, Brock Kitchen at 174, and Lewis Saldivar at 184.
The Rams, last crowned champions in 2022, will now turn their attention to the state championships, scheduled for Dec. 12-13 at Sierra College in Rocklin.
