After a 3-0 victory over College of the Sequoias on Tuesday afternoon, Fresno City College women's soccer coach Oliver Germond still wasn't pleased.
You can't fault the long-term Rams coach for feeling that way. He is all about playing a complete 90-minute match.
"I felt like we didn't play really well," he said. "I feel like the big strength of our game is our possession, and I thought today we forced a lot of plays that weren't there, instead of being patient. We talked about being patient. I don't think we were patient today."
The Rams (12-2 overall, 10-0 CVC) were paced by Ariana Avalos, Evie Juarez, and Brylia Banuelos.
Juarez's goal came in the 17th minute when the ball was lifted into the air, which sailed past Giants goalkeeper Madison Lujan into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.
The Rams are mostly freshmen, led by Juarez, who has a team-leading 10 goals.
"We're blessed to have her," Germond said. "She's an amazing talent. I've told her a few times that I have had a handful of players in my career since I've been here. As a fan of the sport, it's fun to watch them play, and Evie is one of those players. She's next level."
The Rams return home Oct. 31 against Madera at 4 p.m.
