Five different Fresno City College women's soccer players scored goals as the seventh-seeded Rams defeated No. 10 Butte 5-1 in the second round of the CCCAA Northern California regionals.
"I thought the first half we played really well," Fresno City coach Oliver Germond said. "We did a lot of good things. I thought we needed to do it a little bit better job finishing."
Germond said his team wasn't "determined" in the second half. He expected his Rams to add more goals.
Fresno City scored twice in the second half after scoring three in the first.
"I just saw the energy wasn't the same as the first," Germond said. "In the first half, we moved the ball really quick and speed of play was amazing, and we made some great runs, and it just wasn't the same in the second half."
Germond hopes his players will pick it up in the third round against No. 2 seed Sierra on Tuesday.
The match against Sierra is a rematch from earlier this season. The Rams lost 2-1.
